Join us for a fun, hands-on 6-week pottery experience designed for curious beginners and returning makers alike. In this class, you’ll explore both wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques, giving you the chance to discover the many ways clay can be shaped into beautiful and useful pieces for your home. Throughout the six weeks, our instructors will guide you through foundational skills including: • Centering and shaping clay on the pottery wheel • Handbuilding techniques such as slab and coil construction • Trimming, refining, and decorating your pieces • Tips for improving your pottery skills and confidence Along the way, you’ll experiment with creating functional pottery for everyday use—the kinds of pieces that make your kitchen, table, and home feel a little more special because you made them yourself. Students often explore projects such as: • Mugs and cups • Spoon rests and utensil holders • Planters • Serving bowls and dishes • Plates or platters • Small jars or containers • Vases …and many other creative ideas! You’ll receive a 25 lb. bag of clay to use throughout the course, and by the end you’ll have a collection of handmade pottery ready for glazing and firing. All materials, tools, and firings are included — just bring your creativity (and clothes you don’t mind getting a little muddy)!
